We are seeking a skilled, motivated and caring **Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)** to join our collaborative Acute Care Rehabilitative Services team. Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will provide therapeutic interventions to promote independence, safety, and functional recovery. ## **Responsibilities**

- Provide occupational therapy treatments as outlined in the Occupational Therapist’s established plan of care.
- Assist patients with ADL retraining, functional mobility, therapeutic activities, upper‑extremity strengthening, cognitive strategies, and compensatory strategy training.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in functional status to the Occupational Therapist.
- Document treatment sessions in accordance with New Jersey state regulations and facility policies.
- Educate patients and caregivers on safe techniques, adaptive equipment, and discharge recommendations.
- Always maintain patient safety, especially when managing medically complex or high‑acuity cases.
- Participate in interdisciplinary communication with PT, SLP, nursing, case management, and physicians to support optimal patient outcomes.
- Assist with equipment management.

## **Physical &amp; Environmental Requirements**

- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist patients safely using proper body mechanics.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods in a fast‑paced hospital setting.
- Ability to safely operate rehabilitation equipment and adapt tasks for patients with medical devices (e.g., IV lines, telemetry, oxygen).

## Qualifications

## **Qualifications**

- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current **New Jersey licensure** as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
- Experience in acute care or hospital-based practice preferred; new graduates with acute-care clinical rotation experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage a dynamic caseload, and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, time‑management, and clinical reasoning skills.
