**How you’ll contribute **

A Behavioral Health Technician III** **who excels in this role provides advanced patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse to individuals with psychiatric or substance use disorders, supports the therapeutic milieu, participates in treatment planning, mentors and trains staff, and leads quality improvement initiatives.

- Observe and maintain a safe environment through regular patient checks, safety monitoring, contraband searches, and one‑on‑one supervision as needed.
- Perform delegated nursing tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, documenting care, assisting with group education, and monitoring patients.
- Promote a positive therapeutic milieu and accompany patients to meals, breaks, off‑unit visits, and appointments.
- Report medical or psychiatric changes to the RN and assist with admissions, belongings inventory, and vital signs.
- Document patient property at admission and discharge and conduct unit safety checks each shift.
- Encourage or assist patients with activities of daily living and facilitate or cofacilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups.
- Apply crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques and maintain current knowledge of program policies and procedures.
- Provide orientation and mentorship to new staff, serve as a preceptor, and train colleagues on group facilitation and therapeutic practices.
- Serve as an instructor for trainings such as CPI/HWC, CPR, and new‑hire or annual competencies and develop guides for group presentations with appropriate approvals.
- Participate in hospital committees, lead process improvement projects, and attend continuing education programs for behavioral health technicians.
- Employ therapeutic communication, perform psychotherapeutic interventions based on care plans, assess patient needs related to chemical dependency, and document plans of care from admission through discharge.
- Provides leadership for training and process improvement activities within the behavioral health technician team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**What we’re looking for**

- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- **Education**: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- **Experience**: Minimum of one year of experience in a psychiatric health‑care facility working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, or geriatric patients preferred. Certified Nurse Aide certification a plus.
- **Licenses**: CPR and de-escalation certification required within 30 days of hire.

**Schedule: PRN 8 hr. shifts - 24-36 hrs. each week**
