**Job Title: Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Unit Secretary**

**FULL TIME - NIGHTS**

**Tele 4** is a 10-bed telemetry unit. This unit specializes in general medical surgical and telemetry patients such as but not limited to pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke, CHF and chest pain patients. Post-operative patients such as GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Heart Cath/PCI. The population has multiple co-morbidities and complex care. The patient population is admitted / transferred from ICU, ED and PACU.

**Tele 3** is a 22-bed telemetry unit. This unit specializes in general medical surgical and telemetry patients such as but not limited to pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke CHF and chest pain patients. Post-operative patients such as GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Heart Cath/PCI. The population has multiple co-morbidities and complex care. The patient population is admitted / transferred from ICU, ED and PACU.

**Job Description:**

**Monitor Tech/Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Unit Secretary **

Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member, the PCT/Unit Secretary provides direct and indirect patient care. In addition, unit secretaries play a vital role in maintaining efficient operations within hospital units by providing administrative support and ensuring effective communication between staff and patients.

- Performs direct patient care and related tasks as outlined by scope of practice and including but not limited to:
  - Assist patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
  - Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity.
  - Records patient intake and output (I &amp; O).
  - Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
  - Assist patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
- Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient’s nurse.
- Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures and provide manual assistance as needed.
- Escort or transport patients to various hospital locations while maintaining patient safety.
- Clean assigned area; stock and replenish supplies and equipment as directed.
- Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system immediately to determine patients’ needs and assures needs are addressed in a timely manner. Accesses additional assistance as indicated to meet patient needs.
- Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
- Responds promptly to customer needs, both patient and visitors
- Responds to requests for service and assistance in a positive manner.

**Requirements:**

- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
