**Job Description ** Registered Nurse, New Grad - North Alabama Medical Center Registered Nurse **Position Summary ** Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. **Essential Functions ** • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities. • Documents patient care provided. • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family. • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs. • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed. • Maintains regular and reliable attendance. • Performs other duties as assigned. **Additional Information ** • Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. • Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. • Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees. • Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex. **Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities ** The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. **Education:** Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. **License:** /Certifications: Current Temporary RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.
