**Pay rate depends on experience: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour**
Veterinary Medical Center of Woodland Hills is actively seeking a Full-Time or Part-Time experienced veterinary assistant. Here at Veterinary Medical Center of Woodland Hills, we believe in the importance of cross-training. The ideal candidate would be compassionate towards our patients, clients, and the team. We are looking for someone with at least two years of experience but are willing to train the right candidate. A positive and motivating attitude is a must. The ideal candidate would be confident in proper animal handling and restraint, rooming patients, assisting the technicians and veterinarians, helping with surgical recovery, drawing blood, and understanding the importance of client education and is a positive and supportive team player. We are adding a Veterinary Assistant to our growing team of 5 doctors. We just finished expanding but are currently in the middle of remodeling. We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant who can help us as a team and is motivated to learn. We strive to provide the best care for our patients by working seamlessly with each other. Experience is required.
Requirements:
Must be comfortable with client communication, or open to developing this skill.
Handle animals with care
IV catheter placement
Venipuncture and performing in-house blood work (Idexx)
Obtaining radiographs
Prepare patients for surgery
Obtain urine samples via cystocentesis
Will assist a technician with appointments and treatments
Provide demonstrations for owners (ie. ear cleaning, giving medications, etc)
Have a knowledge base of commonly used medications, generate medication labels, and fill prescriptions
Assisting clients with a positive and helpful attitude
Cleaning and restocking
