Job description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The CT Technologist I is a state and nationally registered professional, who under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director competently performs all routine CT exams in the department. The technologist educates the patient/family about these exams and may also provide instructions relating to these exams. The technologist performs service recovery as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Hospital based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital adjacent imaging center locations. Outpatient imaging center-based positions may require rotation to other outpatient imaging centers.

All CT Technologists project an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct and support the Radiology Department mission. They participate in the continuous quality improvement process while maintaining a working knowledge and following all departmental and organizational policies and procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation and quality control requirements, as well as specific regulatory requirements of Title 22, California Licensing & Certification of Health Facilities and Title 17, California Radiation Control Regulations. Performs other duties as assigned that do not violate laws or regulations that require personnel with special licensure. 

This is a benefitted Part-Time position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree or higher.
  • Graduate of an ARRT approved Radiologic Technology program is required.
  • One year of CT experience is required but department may cross train for advancement within the organization.
  • Hospital based technologists must complete two (2) units of mandatory stroke specific training/education annually as required.

License Required

State of California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) License & Fluoroscopy Permit

Certifications Required

  • AHA BLS Certification is required.
  • American Registry of Radiologist Technologist (ARRT) Radiology & CT certifications are required.
  • If newly trained in CT, ARRT CT credential must be obtained within first 6 months in position.
  • Valid Venipuncture Certification as required by State of California Health & Safety Code.
