Job description
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant required.
- Previous small animal emergency and critical care experience (3+ years) preferred.
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills, with knowledge of veterinary clinical procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with veterinary equipment, instruments, and industry-standard tools.
- Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures in accordance with the Scope of Practice established by the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine.
- Safely handle and restrain patients; administer medications and vaccines as directed and permitted by the Scope of Practice.
- Collect laboratory samples, perform basic diagnostics as assigned, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Educate clients on pet care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions as appropriate.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
