Employers write it 2 ways: as an FTE (0.4, 0.6, 0.8) or as a count of shifts per 2-week pay period. Converting between them takes the shift length, which the posting usually gives.
- Do part-time healthcare jobs come with benefits?
Often, above a threshold the employer sets. Half a full schedule is a common one, so 0.5 FTE or 20 hours a week opens many plans. Medical coverage is frequently gated higher, at 30 hours, and postings rarely say where either line sits.
- Is part-time the same as per diem?
No. Part-time is a standing schedule with a set number of hours in it. Per diem work is booked shift by shift and promises nothing.
- Which healthcare roles have part-time schedules?
