The Same Day Surgery Unit at North Alabama Medical Center offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly skilled, collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional care from admission through discharge—all within a single day.

In this dynamic unit, you’ll care for a diverse patient population undergoing a wide range of procedures, allowing you to continuously expand your clinical expertise. From pre-operative preparation to post-anesthesia recovery, your role is critical in ensuring patients feel safe, informed, and supported throughout their surgical journey.

How you’ll contribute  

You’ll make an impact by utilizing your specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving as a patient-care innovator. You will shape exceptional patient journeys every day and leverage your skills and our cutting-edge technology to directly impact patient wellbeing.

  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs 
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions 
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient 
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record 
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs. 

What we’re looking for: 

Applicants should have a current state RN license. Additional requirements include: 

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Basic Life Support required 
  • ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.
  • Experience preferred, but new grads welcomed to apply. 

Schedule: PRN- 2 days per week, no weekends
