Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology, with assistant and aide roles on the PT and OT sides. Athletic trainers, massage therapists, exercise physiologists, and rehabilitation technicians round out the category.

PTs hold a doctorate, evaluate patients, and set the plan of care. PTAs hold an associate degree and deliver the treatment the PT prescribed. Both are licensed; the split is who plans versus who carries out.

A master's degree, a state license, and usually the CCC-SLP credential, which most employers name in the posting. SLPs treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders.

Rehabilitation technician and therapy aide roles hire without one: you set up equipment, guide patients between exercises, and keep the gym running. It's the standard observation-hours job before PT or OT school.

Hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing, home health, and schools. School-based SLP and OT jobs follow the academic calendar, which some clinicians pick for the summers.

Contract stints, usually around 13 weeks, filling staffing gaps for PTs, OTs, SLPs, and assistants, often with housing stipends. Contract postings say the term up front.
