Why the job exists at all
Aide time isn't billable. Medicare pays for skilled therapy delivered by a therapist or an assistant, and minutes an aide spends with a patient in outpatient care don't count, so the role comes out of the clinic's own margin rather than out of a claim. That's also why a posting lists setup, cleaning and moving patients: anything that looks like treatment is work the clinic couldn't be paid for.

A physical therapist aide works the clinic's hours rather than a caseload's. You open the gym before the first patient, reset it between them, and close it after the last, so the shift is fixed while the therapists' days stretch. Clinics that run early mornings or evening blocks staff aides for the ends of the day, so the part-time postings cluster at the ends of the day.
